Suburban Machine To Supply SADM Components To Lockheed
Suburban Machine’s Subtactic Technologies Division announces a multi-year contract with Lockeed Martin Corporation to supply SADM transducer housings for use in deep-towed sonar arrays.
Towed-array sonar uses hydrophones towed on a cable trailing behind a submarine or a surface ship to detect and track quiet submarines. Sensitivity is critical.
The combination of our material and our process for manufacturing the SADM transducer housings has resulted in a remarkable improvement in resolution, efficiency, and accuracy of the measurements made by deep-towed sonar arrays.
“Our end users are really excited,” said a spokesman for the company. “We’ve been told that the imagery captured by arrays using Subtactic’s parts has improved three-fold in clarity and resolution.”
